ICANN completed initial evaluation of the application for the .МОСКВА TLD in Cyrillic, which was submitted by the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID) within the New gTLD Program. Since there are no official objections, the number of scores awarded to the application by ICANN experts will be enough for delegation of the .МОСКВА TLD. The Cyrillic top-level domain for the Russian capital is expected to be officially approved within a month.
21 March 2013 a meeting of the GeoTLDs Group took place in Berlin. The Group unites companies and organisations applying for geographic top-level domains according to the ICANN New gTLD Program. The event was hosted by dotBERLIN, the prospective registry for the .BERLIN TLD, and supported by the Berlin city government. The meeting was attended by the representatives of applicants for more than 30 new domains for different cities and regions around the globe.
Short lists of nominees for the Runet Awards 2012, national prize for the contribution to Russian Internet industry development, have been published. In the first voting round Runet Awards expert committee selected the candidates that are most likely to win in the six major and in four special nominations.
Matvey Alekseev, FAITID CEO, took part in the Convergence in Informational Communications Conference held November 9 at the RIA Novosti News Agency Media Center. Presentation on the topic "Virtualization of urban infrastructure. Available content" was included in the Content of the Future session, organized by the telecommunication company Expo-Telecom.
November 9, comment period ended for the Draw proposal that defines the priority of the new top-level domains' introduction within the New gTLD Program.
The festival was organised by RU-CENTER, the Russian leading registrar, and the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID). The event was held at the Moscow City Day Celebration and took place in the Tsaritsyno Museum and Reserve and in Troitsk, a town that has become a part of the territory of Moscow in July within the program for the city’s expansion.
September 1, 2012, during the Moscow City Day FAITID is organizing the City gTLDs Festival. This idea was supported by the dotCities Interest Group that unites projects for city top-level domains.
