18-20 April 2012 in Moscow Region the RIF+CIB annual conference took place – the main event about Internet Industry in Russia. More than 5 thousand participants took part in the forum. Dmitry Medvedev, President of Russia, welcomed the attendees of the event.

At the first day of the conference a session on domain name industry trends was held. Among other topics during the session perspectives of new Russian top-level domains implementation within the ICANN New gTLD Program were discussed.

Andrey Kolesnikov, the Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU, presented the initiative of the Cyrillic .ДЕТИ top-level domain introduction. The project is being realized by the Coordination Center and the Smart Internet Foundation.

Matvey Alexeev, CEO of the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID), told the audience about .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА TLDs implementation project. Application for the new domains was submitted to ICANN 12 April 2012. After delegation .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА should become a ground for the unified information space of the city. Initially a priority in domain name registrations in the TLDs will be given to trademark holders and Moscow entities. Also a part of domains will be reserved for governmental needs.
